Former Homewood police chief appointed to Board of Trustees after Ray Robertson resigns

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is putting a new twist on the game of golf with its “Fore & Pour” event Sept. 10.

The park district hosted its first beer tasting party in January 2016 with “Explore the Pour” at The Clubhouse at Dolphin Lake. The event sold out and got such great reviews that staff is planning a second special event – this time on the Coyote Run Golf Course.

If you don’t golf but want to try the beer, the staff plans a hayride to take you out on the course.

Starting at 2 p.m., Shotgun Golf will kick off the event. Golfers will play the traditional 18-holes with special tastings of beer at nine of the holes.

Wiley’s Grill will purchase the beer and provide each vendor with a serving table, said Shari Klein, director of Wiley’s Grill, who is organizing the event.

This is a ticketed event, and reservations are necessary.

After golf, players will enjoy a barbecue cookout, live entertainment and a raffle. The $100 fee will include golf, cart, range balls, beer sampling, cookout and raffle entry.

For those who don’t golf but want to enjoy the beer, the Coyote Run hayride will get patrons to each of the nine beer stops. The fee is $50 for the hayride, beer sampling, barbecue cookout and raffle entry.

Klein will be accepting reservations for a maximum of 144 golfers and 100 guests for the hayride.  Reservations are being accepted at 708-957-8700.
