According to a Flossmoor police report, the 25-year-old pedestrian had stepped onto Vollmer when he was hit by a car making a left turn off northbound Dixie Highway. The accident took place at 7 p.m. on June 28.

The driver was turning at a green light, the report says.

Police said the accident victim was about two feet onto Vollmer when he was hit. The accident took place on the north half of Vollmer, in Flossmoor. The south half of the street is in Chicago Heights.

Police said the driver of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, a Country Club Hills man, did not see the victim, in part because of a strong glare from the sun at that time of day.

The victim went into the windshield of the car, striking his head. He was taken to Franciscan St. James Health – Chicago Heights, where he was given a CAT scan, which showed no damage to his brain. He was treated and released, police said.

The driver’s story was corroborated by a video recording of the accident taken by a red light camera at the intersection. The driver was not cited in the accident, police said.
