Haitian visitor thanks Homewood Rotary for helping his community

U.S Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) released the following statement after Democrats in the House of Representatives early Thursday morning ended their sit-in to demand a vote on commonsense gun legislation:

“For 26 hours, I held the floor with my House Democratic colleagues to demand that Congress do its job and address our nation’s gun violence epidemic. This sit-in was a turning point in the movement to enact commonsense gun legislation. There is a renewed resolve to take meaningful action to save lives.  We will not sit in silence as people are killed every day on the streets of Chicago. We will not look the other way and ignore the loopholes that allow guns to end up in the wrong hands.  We will not stop until Congress responds to the will of the American people and passes laws that protect our children and our communities from senseless gun violence.”
