Homewood will observe Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony Monday, May 30.
The parade will begin in front of the Homewood public safety building in the 17900 block of Dixie Highway, go south on Dixie Highway to Olive Road then west on Olive to Harwood Avenue, where the ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial.
The parade lineup will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the parade will start at 10:30 a.m.
in Homewood on Monday will
include a wreath-laying
ceremony.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature music by the James Hart School Orchestra, directed by Sara White; the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Marching Band, directed by Sarah Whitlock; and by bag piper Tom Houts.
Speakers will include VFW Post 8077 Commander John Beele, Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld, Lily Bosch, Don Tollefsen, the Rev. Daniel Jaroswic and Rabbi Paul Caplan.
A rifle salute will be performed by the South Suburban Chiefs of Police Association.
