The vacant buildings along the north side of Ridge Road west of Dairy Queen in Homewood are slated to be demolished soon, according to village officials.

The buildings from 1722 to 1748 Ridge Road have been vacant for a number of years and are in disrepair, according to Economic Development Director Tom Vander Woude.

He said a private investment firm bought the parcels in August 2015, not including the lot on the corner of Ridge and Highland Avenue. The company plans to demolish the buildings as soon as permits are in place, he said.

The company has not said what its plans are for the property, Vander Woude said. The site is included in the village’s efforts to market key properties in the downtown area for redevelopment.
