Walkers raise more than $85,000 for Cancer Support Center

South Suburban Family Shelter, Inc. is looking for individuals, families or businesses interested  in participating in its Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program, according to a news release from the organization.

Adopt-A-Family is designed to help victims of domestic violence and their children during the holiday season.

The victims and their children who participate in Adopt-A-Family are experiencing financial hardship as a result of their family circumstances. They would likely have nothing for the holidays without the help of generous donors. Donors purchase and wrap gifts for their adopted families, SSFS officials said.

Monetary contributions and gift cards are also welcome and may be mailed to: South Suburban Family Shelter. P.O. Box 937, Homewood, IL 60430, attention:  Adopt-a-Family.

South Suburban Family Shelter is a not-for-profit agency which provides comprehensive services for families who experience domestic violence. These services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling for adult victims and their children, abuser intervention, court and medical advocacy and prevention programs.

All victim services are provided free of charge and all programs are available in English and Spanish.
