Who says dressing up at Halloween is just for kids? Homewood-Flossmoor residents can get into costume and get into the spirit at Boo 8, a costume party at Wiley’s Grill on Oct. 24 that starts at 8 pm.

Featuring a live band, the annual event is a popular fundraiser for the Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Center (CSC) in Homewood. The event is sponsored by CSC’s Homewood Community . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
