Youth arrested in carjacking released from detention, allowed to enroll in high school

Homewood District 153 PTA is back on track with an easy, efficient way to support the schools and eat healthy thanks to a new partnership with Schwan’s Cares.

For years, the PTA partnered with Market Day but the company abruptly shut down.

The alternative is Schwan’s, a company best known for its ice cream but through this partnership can provide PTA supporters with more than 350 frozen food products, including special diet alternatives, according to Kim Mayton, the PTA’s vice president of fundraising.

All orders will be delivered directly to the customer, eliminating the need to come to school for monthly order pick-up, she said.  Deliveries can be as often as the customer prefers. Orders will be accepted online at Schwans-Cares.com or by phone at 1-855-870-7208. To give credit to District 153, the campaign name is Willow School and the ID number is 23344.

District 153 will get a 20 percent benefit on orders and 40 percent benefit on gift card orders placed before Nov. 12.

Mayton said the food options are numerous, including gluten free, vegetarian, organic, no sugar added, heart healthy and low calorie options. Many of the products are from the same suppliers Market Day used, so PTA members are certain the quality will be satisfactory.

Homewood PTA fundraising helps cover the costs of field trips, assemblies and other special programs that enrich the learning environment.
