Patti Barnum, owner of Success Now Taekwondo in Homewood, is among the elite Taekwondo instructors in the United States having been elevated to the rank of chief master instructor.  She is only the fifth U.S. woman to receive the title.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
