While professional artists led by Nancy Pochis Bank recreated a Georges Seurat painting on the street nearby, dozens of local artists of all ages — amateur and professional — got down on the pavement and created their own works of art.
Chalk of the Town was a new feature of Homewood’s Art & Garden spring street fair. Although chalk is a temporary medium, some of the art is still visible on Martin Avenue near the intersection with Hickory Road two weeks later, especially the Seurat, which had a base coat of tempera paint to aid chalk adhesion.
