The Homewood-Flossmoor Master Singers will be headed to Europe next year to share their voices with audiences in Budapest, Vienna and Prague.
With the tour route established, students invited to join the tour are turning their attention to fundraising to help pay the costs of the trip.
The annual music tour for H-F High School students is sponsored by Homewood-Flossmoor Fine and Performing Arts Council (HFFPAC).
The next event will be a car wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Homewood Church, southeast corner of Governors Highway and 183rd Street. HFFPAC will be accepting donations that will help with trip expenses.
The group was also at Homewood Farmers Market Saturday, June 13, to raise awareness about the project and is expected to be at the market again July 11, Aug. 8 and Sept. 18. Students will conduct children’s activities such as face painting and making instruments out of recycled products, according to HFFPAC spokeswoman Kim O’Lone.
The farmers market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at Homewood Village Hall parking lot, 2020 Chestnut Road.
Every HF Viking Choir member is invited to join HF FPAC’s HF Master Singers Program. Sixty-five singers were invited to join the Master Singers Program following auditions this spring.
HFFPAC is a private, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that promotes the fine and performing arts at Homewood-Flossmoor High School and throughout the greater Homewood-Flossmoor community.
