Governors State University will host a community forum from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, focusing on how the state’s budget problems will affect the Chicago Southland.
The free event is open to the public. It will include a panel discussion with two sub-themes: challenges of the state budget and the impact the budget will have on the Chicago Southland.
The panelists will be:
- Yvonne Orr-El, CPO of the South-Southwest Suburban United Way
- David Lloyd, director of the Fiscal Policy Center at Voices for Illinois Children
- Dr. Edward Piatt, recently retired senior account manager, Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity
- Michael Jasso, Cook County director of planning and development
Following the panel discussion, attendees will meet in breakout sessions ongoing to discuss pressing issues facing the state. The groups will then reconvene to share their insights and ideas with the entire group.
Lunch and light refreshments will be served. To register, please contact GSU Professor Larry Levinson at 708-235-7362.
Governors State University is located at 1 University Parkway, just off of Stuenkel Road, east of Governors Highway in University Park.
