New Homewood welcome signs were installed about in mid-May, and public works officials say the new versions should be long-lasting and easier to maintain.
The new signs include the village’s slogan, “You’re in the Right Place.”
There are eight welcome signs at various entry points to the village, according to Public Works Director John Schaefer.
Assistant Public Works Director Dave Ebert said the old wooden signs had been in place for at least two decades.
The new signs hang between metal posts, and the posts are expected to last for many years, he said.
The signs are made of a weather-resistant vinyl-covered foam material, and when they do show signs of wear, it will be relatively easy to attach new signs to the support posts, Ebert said.
The Homewood Beautification Committee tends the flower beds beneath the signs.
