Global Fusion to close its doors, open new options

Editor’s note: This is the third in a week-long series of stories focusing on who and what the HF Chronicle is. After publishing for a year, we thought it was about time we explain what we’re up to.

Greetings Chronicle readers!

Marilyn Thomas

We’ve been meeting you at the store, at church, at meetings and community events, and of course, through Facebook. We’ve been hearing positive things about our work over the past year and appreciate all your comments.

As we approached our first year as your news source, we got these special comments from readers that we wanted to share:

The HF Chronicle provides the Homewood and Flossmoor communities with much-appreciated, well-written stories about our local news, which is seldom being carried by “larger” publications.  I think because the Chronicle journalists live right here in the H-F community, they bring an even better perspective to these stories and I enjoy reading all of them.

I’ve been especially pleased with the fine articles that have been written about the Homewood-Flossmoor Area League of Women Voters and look forward to submitting future ideas for stories that describe my organization’s activities.

Erin Roeper
Co-President, LWV-HF Area

Happy First Anniversary! The Chronicle is reader friendly, fair and a community connection. Thank you for bringing local news back into our homes.

Jody Scariano

The articles you write are well written and informative.

Please keep writing about the wonderful people of our great village.

Scarcely a day goes by that we don’t learn something about our community through the Chronicle. Keeping us informed about our neighborhoods, our institutions and local happenings, reminds me that a good news ’paper’ is a good habit. Thanks Chronicle staff. Here’s to many more anniversaries to come!

Jay Heiferman
Trustee, Village of Homewood

The HF Chronicle has quickly become an important part of our community.  It’s wonderful to have a local media outlet that highlights what is positive in our community, helps readers stay informed, and provides our schools, park district, libraries, villages and local businesses with a great way to get our news in front of those who care.  The Chronicle is never sensational, always fair and informative. I am so happy that the Chronicle is part of our community!

President, District 153 School Board

It was great to have all the (April 7, 2015) election information in one place so that we could help patrons find information on the candidates.

Winston Churchill said, “Journalism is a guardian that never sleeps and protects freedom of the people.”

Thanks to the Chronicle, the residents of the Homewood-Flossmoor community have an excellent protector of their ability to obtain important and current information about their local government, their schools and their community. The Flossmoor Village Board of Trustees, Village Staff, and I congratulate the Chronicle on its one year anniversary and we thank the Chronicle for helping to make local government in Flossmoor transparent for the community.

Paul S. Braun
Mayor, Village of Flossmoor

Honestly, I believe that the Chronicle has been a real godsend to the Homewood-Flossmoor community.  Over the last few years we have seen a dwindling in media coverage of our towns, despite the vibrant offerings that can be found here.  So it’s great to have a media outlet that puts a spotlight on all the amazing things that happen locally.

Also, as an elected official in Homewood, I truly believe that a consistent and reliable source of news from village hall, the school districts, the parks and the library is critical to keeping our community strong.  I love that people can keep up to date on what we’re doing, and can put their two cents in.  I regularly monitor the Chronicle’s Facebook page to help me see how residents are feeling about things.  I am really glad the Chronicle is becoming such a crucial part of the fabric of our community.

Anne Colton
Trustee, Village of Homewood
