Ravisloe will host IPO summer music series

When you pick up a book this summer at the Homewood Public Library, you could be helping a local charity through the “Be a Hero in Our Community: Read for a Cause” program.

The library will be donating $500 to three local charities. Donations will be based on how many books are read in the Adult Summer Reading Program. The prizes will be divided between the charities — $250, $150 and $100.

Starting today, June 1, readers can select to read a book or listen to an audio book for South Suburban PADS, Respond Now or South Suburban Family Shelter.  Library patrons can select one, two or all three charities as beneficiaries by filing a readers’ form with the Librarian’s Desk. Forms are available at homewoodlibrary.org.

Throughout the summer, the entry forms will be represented on a display so patrons can see how their favorite organization is doing in the reading program. The library also will be serving as a donation collection station for the three charities.

At the end of the program, participants will be eligible for a raffle.
