Homewood attorneys named to select bar association committees

The village of Homewood last week posted tobacco compliance check results for 2015, and most retailers were found to be in compliance with regulations, according to a news release from Homewood Police Department.

All tobacco retailers in the village were inspected in three rounds of compliance checks from November 2014 to May 2015. In the 45 inspections of 15 retailers, two violations were found of regulations barring the selling of tobacco to minors.

“The involvement of the retailers in helping the police department curb the sale of tobacco to minors is very important,” said Homewood Police Chief Larry Burnson. “We appreciate the business community’s efforts in helping us protect our children.”

Sale of tobacco to anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited. The compliance check program receives a grant from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission’s “Kids Can’t Buy ‘Em Here” Tobacco Enforcement Program.
