Travel for local rail commuters was nearly back to normal this morning as Metra quickly recovered from a derailment near 11th Street in Chicago.Metra posted a notice at 1:13 a.m. that Train No. 150 from University Park derailed at 12:52 a.m., affecting traffic on two of three tracks.The Chicago Tribune reported that no one was injured in the incident.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
