Travel for local rail commuters was nearly back to normal this morning as Metra quickly recovered from a derailment near 11th Street in Chicago.
Metra posted a notice at 1:13 a.m. that Train No. 150 from University Park derailed at 12:52 a.m., affecting traffic on two of three tracks.
The Chicago Tribune reported that no one was injured in the incident. The train, carrying five passengers, was traveling at a slow speed when the derailment occurred.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. trains were estimated to be running about 90 minutes late, but by 5:44 a.m. the railway announced delays were down to about 15 minutes.
