Families enjoyed Homewood’s Rail Fest Saturday in spite of soggy weather

To celebrate Public Works Week, Homewood Public Works opened its facility at 17755 Ashland Ave. to the public Saturday, May 16. Families could tour facilities and learn about the workings of the department. Kids got a chance to see and experience how some of the department's big machines work.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
