Police Reports: Feb. 12, 2015

Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. To 1 p.m. Will be the last chance this year for Homewood Farmers Market patrons to enjoy the weekly music, conversations, fresh produce, and crafts, according to a Village of Homewood news release.

The market is located in the parking lot west of Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.

Vendors plan to have a number of special offers to thank patrons for a visiting the market all summer, including free services and samples, and reduced prices.

The complete list of vendors and last-day special offers is on the market web page.

Community groups this week will include the Homewood Parent Music Association (selling chocolate), and the HF High School Orchestra will be fundraising for their spring trip to Spain. The next big fundraiser for the trip is the Zombie Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 1. More information to follow.

Heather’s Foster Dogs, Back Safety and Wellness Center, Homewood Public Library, Thomas’ Photographic Services, and Wellness Integrative Medical Center will be on hand to talk about the services they offer.

Music will be provided by market regulars Jim and Kirk.

There will also be an opportunity to properly dispose of unused, unneeded, or expired medications, including prescribed, over-the-counter, or herbal products.

The Village of Homewood and Cook County Department of Environmental Control will sponsor a drug drop-off point during the market session.

Cleaning out medicine cabinets should be done routinely to avoid accidentally taking wrong prescriptions and to keep medications out of the wrong hands, according to village officials.

All medications dropped off will be incinerated, which prevents drugs from getting into soil and water ways.

Officials recommend removing all personal information on the label before dropping off medication.

Due to the Drug Enforcement Agency regulations, controlled substances, needles, or other infectious medical waste will not be accepted. Inhalers and mercury thermometers will be accepted.
