Homewood residents who enjoy the village’s smooth, well-lighted streets and clean water will have an opportunity to learn about the department that works to provide those features of the community.

Homewood Public Works will give residents a chance to learn more about the department and how it serves the community with an open house at 17755 Ashland Ave. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

The event will be filled with fun activities for the family, according to a notice in the Homewood e-newswire.

Interactive equipment operation and rides for kids will be available. Guests will have a chance to dress up in public works gear in the photo area and will be able to learn where Homewood water comes from during a tour of the water plant facility.

Popcorn and hot dogs will be served.
