Homewood’s Meghan Muldoon receives AAUW scholarship

La Voute Bistro is still taking shape, but in a little less than a month, the whine of power saws will be replaced: The sound will be of music and the wine will be by the glass.The bistro is a key feature of the long-awaited La Banque boutique hotel on the northwest corner of Ridge Road and Martin Avenue.Grand opening festivities will culminate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening June 13, and the hotel will be open to the public June 15. The adaptive reuse of the old bank building began in 2012 . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
