Crews began demolition work Tuesday on Martin Avenue north of Ridge Road.
The section of Martin Avenue from Ridge to Chestnut Road was closed a week ago in preparation for the work to begin on the streetscape project.
The first phase of the $1.2 million project will result in a green space closed to traffic on the south section of Martin and two-way traffic with a turnaround on the north section.
