Canadian National will host an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, to give members of the community an opportunity to see its new training center at 17560 S. Ashland Ave. in Homewood.

The event will include tours of the new facility, an opportunity to meet the center staff and to learn more about CN and its training programs.

“We will have personnel available to explain the various types of training we make available to our employees at the training facility and to answer questions,” said Jim Kvedaras, CN director of government affairs.

Food and drink will be available. The event will take place rain or shine, he said.

All parking will be accessed through the CN shop complex main entrance 175th Street and South Ashland Avenue. Visitors should go west from the traffic light into the parking lot. Parking will be available on the right or north side of the lot.

The facility was officially opened in October with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by CN CEO Claude Mongeau, then-Gov. Pat Quinn, Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld and a number of community leaders and area legislators.
