The Homewood-Flossmoor District 233 board approved the repaving of the South Building parking lot this summer.
The job will begin June 2 and should take a month according to Business Manager Ken Parchem. The work will be done by Accu-Paving Co. of Broadview for $351,600.
Parchem said the $100 annual fee students pay for parking at H-F is covering the expense. The work will be done on the east side of the lot. The west half of the lot was repaved in 2014.
In other business, the board awarded a $56,000 contract to Jostens American Yearbook of Carol Stream for the 600 copies of the 2015-16 H-F yearbook. Parchem said yearbook sales have increased since the book began carrying congratulatory messages from parents and the format was changed to four-color.
The board also approved using $42,700 in Title II grants for summer curriculum reviews and program assessments.
Nancy Spaniak, director of curriculum, instruction and professional development, is working on the “back to school” program for teachers and new staff set for Aug. 10.
The day-long program will be divided into three segments—a look ahead with service awards for staff, department meetings that will allow teachers to consider logistics and the bigger picture and H-F assessments giving teachers the opportunity to review school-wide testing and the individual needs of students in their 2015-16 classes.
The 2015-16 academic year will begin Aug. 12.
