Baseball is big in Homewood, and so it gets a big welcome for the beginning of each new season. Opening day Saturday, April 18, began with the annual parade, in which hundreds of team members, coaches, assistants and parents marched along Ridge Road from Irwin Park to the ballfields at Izaak Walton Preserve.
