Girls Night Out, sponsored by the Downtown Homewood Business Association, is an annual event that gives local businesses a chance to give their customers something special. From 6 to 9 p.m. 10 downtown businesses, all within walking distance of each other, will be open late with discounts, trunk shows, wine . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
