GSU Hosts Freshman Friday series for high school seniors

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Girls Basketball team will be competing this weekend for the Illinois High School Association’s Class 4A state title when they play Benet Academy tonight at the Illinois State University’s Redbird Arena.  

The team advanced after winning the March 2 Super Sectional game in overtime. H-F tied the game against Trinity High School at the buzzer, and managed to come back with a 72-68 victory. The . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
