Housing Expo set for March 14 in Matteson

Governors State University is hosting an Illinois Public Higher Education Cooperative Diverse Business Opportunity Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, in the university’s Center for the Performing Arts.

The session is geared to minority, women, disabled, veteran and small business owners that want to do business with State of Illinois Public Universities. They will meet Illinois university buyers; learn about procurement opportunities; how to become certified as a diverse vendor with the state; and how to register with the Illinois Procurement Gateway and . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
