Snowy afternoon at Izaak Walton

Apparently Homewood Farmers Market fans held up their lighters, clapped their hands and whistled, because the market is about to do an encore.

After a summer of new features and growth in variety and volume, the market is going to hold a series of winter sessions.

“We had a really positive response to the idea when we surveyed vendors and customers in the fall,” said Kate Duff, market manager for the Village of Homewood. “If it’s a success, we’ll consider adding more dates next year.”

The first winter farmers market will be from 9 to noon Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Village Hall board room, 2020 Chestnut Road. Subsequent markets will be held the last Saturday of each month through April at the same time and place.

Patrons will find baked goods, gourmet foods, handmade soaps and more. Some of the regular vendors from the summer market are expected to be there Saturday, including Homewood Kitchen Gardens, Bakewell Bakery, Sonoma Farm and Cynthia’s Gumbo Express.
