Brunswick Zone XL is closed for good.
AMF, the new owners of the popular bowling center closed its doors abruptly Tuesday, Jan. 6, leaving staff, area bowlers and party planners in the lurch. A sign on the door said, “Closed for renovation.”
AMF officials did not reply to several email and phone requests for comment from The Chronicle, but Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld said he was able to make contact with an AMF representative, who confirmed the location will not reopen.

And in a letter to the village voluntarily relinquishing the facility’s liquor license, Portia Bagby, AMF licensing and regulatory compliance supervisor said, “This location has ceased all business operations.”
Hofeld said village staff had verified that the interior of the building has been completely emptied of bowling center furnishings and equipment.
Soon after the closure, Homewood Fire Chief Bob Grabowski, acting director of community development, said the village was given no prior notice of the company’s plans to close.
Hofeld said he has begun the process of seeking another business to operate in the 183rd Street building.
