Sueños, a Latin jazz quintet “will roll into Ravisloe like a soft warm South American wave,” according to Chicago Jazz Magazine.
Sounds pretty good after January got off to a fairly brutal start, weatherwise.
The musical respite from winter Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. is the next concert in the TrueMuse jazz series sponsored by Ravisloe Country Club and Chicago Jazz Magazine.
Sueños is comprised of leader/composer/arranger Steven Hashimoto on bass, Leandro Lopez-Varady on piano, Michael Levin on reeds and Joe Rendon and Heath Chappell on percussion instruments.
Their music combines the rhythms and traditions from Cuba, Brasil, Spain, Mexico, South and Central America and the Caribbean with the improvisational philosophy of jazz, according to promotional material.
They have performed widely in the greater Chicagoland area, including The Green Mill, Andy’s, Fitzgerald’s, Siam Marina Restaurant, Bossa Nova and The Shark Bar.
The TrueMuse concert series began in November and will continue with regular jazz concerts at Ravisloe through summer.
