Global Fusion will host a Kwanzaa celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Owner Diana Dills said the event will include a candle-lighting ceremony and music and spoken word performances.

“Kwanzaa is all about community and fellowship,” she said. “It’s about renewing your commitment to your community.”

Artist and musician Henry Colby of Timbuktu Art Colony will be a featured speaker, and his daughter, Soul, will perform spoken word.

Kwanzaa is an annual celebration from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 that is in its 48th year, Dills said. Each day of the celebration has its own theme or principle. Tonight’s theme is Nia, or purpose.

Other themes include Umoja, or unity; Kuichagulia, or self-determination; Ujima, or collective work and responsibility; Ujamaa, or cooperative economics; Kuumba, or creativity; and Imani or faith.

Global Fusion is located on the southeast corner of Dixie Highway and Ridge Road.
