In new business at its regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 23, Homewood trustees will consider a downtown property purchase and discuss the development of a community science center.
If the measure is approved, the village would purchase Ryan’s Funeral Home at 18022 Dixie Highway for the purpose of selling the property to a developer. The first choice of development would be a community science center. The village will also consider hiring a consultant to explore the feasibility of developing the interactive scence center.
Trustees will also take another look at a proposed commercial development at 17725 Halsted St. The measure approving a building design for Shiner Group’s two-tenant structure was tabled at the Dec. 9 meeting when several trustees criticized the appearance of the Halsted-facing side of the building.
Brian Long will be honored on his retirement for his service to the Public Works Department.
The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall board room, 2020 Chestnut Road.
