Homewood District 153 shared a special moment in its online newsletter published Friday, Dec. 19:

“Christmas came early for Keira (4th-grade) and Kyle (6th-grade) Brockington when mom, Crystal, surprised them in their classrooms on December 16. Ms. Brockington who serves in the U.S. Navy, has been stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, since June. Her kids didn’t know she had been granted a two-week leave,” according to the district publication.
