Flossmoor police arrest local man for drug sales near school

A Flossmoor man is facing four felony charges following his arrest for allegedly selling cannabis from his home, less than 300 feet from Heather Hill School.

Geno Allen, 25, of 2832 Alexander Crescent, was charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, delivery of cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis after his arrest on November 5, Flossmoor police said. Deputy Chief Tod Kamleiter said slightly more than a half pound of cannabis was confiscated from Allen’s home.

Kamleiter said Allen was charged with the weapons violations because a loaded .45 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver was found at the Alexander Crescent address when police, armed with a search warrant, arrived at the home.

According to a police report, an undercover officer made purchases of cannabis from Allen at his home on November 22 and December 3. Allen was allegedly selling two strains of cannabis, called “Loud” and “Reggie.” Following both undercover buys, the purchased substance was field-tested and found to be cannabis.

About 15 officers, from Flossmoor and neighboring towns as part of the Network 3 Tactical Team, executed the search warrant. The arrest took place shortly after 5 p.m. The revolver was lying on the living room couch, in plain view of the officers, the report said. A check on the gun indicated it had been stolen during a burglary in Buffalo Grove in 2006.

Officers established that Allen’s home is 297 feet from Heather Hill School, the report says.

Allen told police he had been selling cannabis from his home consistently for the last several months, the report says. He also said the revolver belonged to him and that he had purchased it from a friend in Chicago for $350; his friend told him it was stolen, according to the report. Bags of cannabis were found in Allen’s room, as well as drug paraphernalia and ammunition, police said.

Allen was charged with the four felonies at the Flossmoor police station. A judge at the Markham branch of the Cook County Criminal Court ordered him held on a $50,000 bond.

Two stolen Flossmoor street signs were also found in Allen’s room. Kamleiter said Allen could face misdemeanor charges for possession of stolen village property.
