Drop in assessed valuation throws shadow over District 161 tax levy approval

A quick look at the Homewood Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, Dec. 9:

  • Trustees approved the final plan for the Martin Avenue Public Space project. The updated plan received praise from trustees, but a question about funding will need to be resolved. Two citizens at the meeting questioned the increased budget for the project.
  • A plan for a new commercial building at 17725 Halsted St. was tabled after trustees criticized the appearance of the proposed structure and asked the architect to make improvements.
  • The Homewood-Flossmoor High School football team was on hand to receive accolades from the village. The resolution honoring the team was read by Adam Lewandowski, a member of the state champion Vikings of 1994.
