Your generosity can make a difference in the life of someone who uses the support services of South Suburban Family Shelter, and you, in turn, could be the beneficiary of great photo services.
Everyone who drops off donations for those in need through Dec. 18 at Thomas Photographic Studios, 18750 Dixie Highway, will be entered for a chance to win a gift card for a photo session and photo package valued at $288. The winner will be announced Dec. 19 on Facebook.
Various items are needed for those facing domestic abuse, including gift cards for gas stations and grocery stores, new socks, and baby formula and diapers. A complete list is at the South Suburban Family Shelter website and click on “wish list.”
South Suburban Family Shelter provides services for families experiencing domestic violence, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, transportation, transitional housing, group and individual counseling for adult victims, group and individual counseling for child victims/witnesses, medical advocacy, court advocacy, a school-based prevention program, community education and abuser treatment groups. All services are provided in Spanish and in English. All services to victims are provided free of charge – there is a sliding-scale fee for abuser services.
