Advocate South Suburban Hospital recognized for safeguarding the health of newborns and mothers

St. Joseph School 5th grader Kira Chivers got a special Halloween treat this year: the opportunity to put her imagination to work designing a miniature golf course.

Kira enjoyed coming up with the design for The Spider golf course when she attended Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development Accelerated Weekend Experience. Northwestern provided the scholarship for Kira to participate in the program Oct. 25 and 26 at Marian Catholic High School.

The weekend experience is designed to give academically bright 5th through 8th graders an opportunity to work with an expert in the field and explore a new subject in depth and with concentration.

Kira took the Sports Materials- Science and Engineering course. She and two other girls created the Halloween-themed miniature golf course.
