Aurelio’s to host fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 342 Monday

Homewood will host one of four public hearings scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 5, on Metra's proposed 2015 budget. Four more hearings are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6.

The hearing will be in the board room at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The budget calls for “average fare increase of 10.8 percent across all fare types to help fund a modernization plan and pay for other rising costs of doing business,” according to a Receive a 3-day free trial of unlimited digital access.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
