Be careful out there: Freezing rain predicted overnight

Homewood and Flossmoor could see up to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulate on area roads overnight, according to an alert posted by the National Weather Service.

A freezing rain advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, to 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Road are expected to become treacherous during the advisory period. NWS officials urge motorists to drive slowly.

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
