The first and second graders wiggled and barked and fluttered. It was all part of their pretending to be a tree on Friday, April 27, as they took part in the planting of a tree for Arbor Day, a national day that celebrates trees.
Two Homewood Public Works staffers, Bryon Doerr and Jim Tresouthick, recently were honored for their landscaping and forestry work in the village and the region.
“Trees are one of the strengths in a community,” according to Homewood Forester Jim Tresouthick. That's why both Homewood and Flossmoor invest and take pride in the local urban forest.
Homewood residents have until noon Saturday, April 1, to get orders in for half-price trees through the village's TreeShare Program.
