GSU film fest to feature student work

Registration is now open to reserve seats for the short film competition in the inaugural Chicago Southland International Film Festival (CSIFF) on Sept. 15 and 16 at Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts.

Two films airing at GSU film festival

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the Chicago Southland International Film Festival will be held at Governors State University.
 
Two documentaries will be shown at the Center for Performing Arts on campus. Admission is free.
 
“Little Wounds Warriors” will be presented at 4 p.m. It is produced and directed by GSU alumnus Seth McClellan, who will conduct a question and answer session afterward.
 

PR strategies for business outlined at GSU program July 31

“Public Relations Strategies for Business and Industry,” a free business networking breakfast and panel discussion, will be presented by the School of Extended Learning at Governors State University on Tuesday, July 31. 

Manilow Sculpture Park tour April 21

Governors State University is hosting its “Earth Day Tour: Where the Prairie Meets the City” from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, with a walk through the internationally renowned Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park on the GSU campus.
 
The free event starts near the D Building main entrance on the GSU campus in University Park.
 

GSU offers Vacation Education summer courses

Governors State University is helping college students get additional credits this summer through a program it’s calling Vacation Education.
 
The program focuses on general education and degree requirement classes standard to most bachelor’s degree programs. 
 

GSU Dance Company Brings the Big Screen to Life

Governors State University students will present their annual dance festival at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, with performances inspired by the big screen. The performance will be at the Center for Performing Arts at GSU. 
 

'Caroline, or Change' performed at GSU this weekend

The Southland Area Theatre Ensemble will perform the musical “Caroline, or Change” Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts in University Park.
 

Nutcracker ballet to be presented at GSU’s Center for Performing Arts

The classic Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” will be performed by the Salt Creek Ballet at the Governors State University Center for Performing Arts at 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. 

Lively ethnic dance program ‘Stomping Grounds’ at GSU theater Oct. 7

“Stomping Grounds,” a night of dance that moves through international cultures, will be presented at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University.
