Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic School will be sending 10 students to the state science fair in May, according to a news release from the school.
Five of the students earned an invitation to state with projects, and three students were honored for the papers they presented at the regional science competitions.
And two students earned invitations for both projects and papers.
Heading to state with their projects are Faith Allen, Fiona Keating, Isabelle McNeil, Zuriel Richardson and Ryan Swanson. Students who will present papers at the state event are Mia Lee, Duffy Karstrom and Calahan Smith.
Shaun Carter and Carrington Johnson will compete at state with both papers and projects.
The process began in the fall semester as students began developing their work under the direction of science teacher Nancy Mosher.
Seventh graders then participated in IJP’s 34th annual Science Fair in January. Judges scored their presentations, and the top-scoring students advanced to regional competitions.
“The judges were impressed by your knowledge, enthusiasm, and confidence,” Mosher told her students during the awards ceremony. “I have watched your science projects grow from a simple idea to a refined scientific experiment.”
The following students advanced from the local competition to the Regional Project Session, which took place at Metea Valley High School in Aurora:

“Science Fair gives the students an opportunity to develop all kinds of skills, not just science. They use math, reading, English and communication skills to complete this challenge. Science Fair allows the students to be part of the scientific process, to be an active dynamic participant, not just an observer,” Mosher said.
