Jason Benetti, play-by-play announcer for the Chicago White Sox, will be the guest speaker for the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Vikings Baseball Booster Club fundraising dinner on Saturday, Jan. 29.
The 6 to 9 p.m. Hot Stove Fundraiser event, featuring a buffet style Italian meal, will be at Balagio’s Ristorante, 17501 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased through vikingsbaseballboosters.com.
Organizers are happy to have Benetti, an H-F graduate, join them as they celebrate the team’s 2021 season behind coach John McCarthy. The H-F Vikings outstanding play took the team to the IHSA super-sectionals after winning the regional championship.
It was the first Vikings baseball team to make it to that level of play.
The booster club, made up of parents and other supporters, works to provide funding for the needs of the 80-member Vikings team, including equipment, the Senior Night recognition event and barbeques for Vikings and the opposing team during double-headers, said Chris Steiner, a boosters club member.
The booster club is also funding the cost of the varsity team’s stay in Louisville for a tournament over spring break.
