Several streets in downtown Homewood will be closed to traffic and parking during the day and evening Monday so a crew can do filming for the television show “Paper Girls.”
Street closures will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to no parking signs posted along Ridge Road on Friday. According to village officials, closures will include:
- Harwood Avenue from Elm Road to 183rd Street
- Ridge Road from Dixie Highway to Harwood
- Martin Avenue from Chestnut Road to Hickory Road
Metra’s Harwood Avenue station entrance will be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Commuters can access the station via the Park Avenue entrance. The station will not be ADA accessible during the closure of the Harwood entrance. ADA commuters will need to go to the neighboring Calumet or Flossmoor stations.
Homewood officials did not specify the show by name. Two electronic signs posted downtown late this week only note that the closures are for filming.
But in a Facebook post, Bookie’s New and Used Books noted that the store would be closed Monday for filming “Paper Girls” and noted that it carries the comic book series.
The Amazon series is based on the award-winning mystery/science fiction comic by the same name. The show also filmed in the village in May.
