Peregrine falcon topic of Feb. 11 Homewood Science Center talk

The Homewood Science Center is hosting a Feb. 11 program about the peregrine falcon.

The 7 p.m. program is part of the science center’s Citizen Science Program on birds. The guest presenter will be Mary Hennen, director of the Chicago Peregrine Program, Gantz Family Collections Center, at the Field Museum.

She has studied factors that led to the decline of peregrines, and her team has made discoveries that helped the bird flourish again. Their work made it possible to remove the peregrine from the Illinois State Endangered and Threatened Species List.

This is a family program and part of the “Spotlight on … Birds” program at the Field Museum.
