Park district has kids decorate the ‘Keep Healthy’ signs

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is offering a fun way for kids to show their creativity on a very important message: Keep H-F Healthy.

The lawn signs will have the message imprinted, but how best to present them is up to the artist, whatever the age. The message is meant to encourage Homewood and Flossmoor residents to stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic so that students in Homewood District 153 and Flossmoor District 161 will be able to stay in school.

Both districts are offering students the option of returning to their classrooms two days a week. The other three days are by remote learning. The other option is to take all-remote classes.

From 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the park district staff will be in the Irwin Center parking lot, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood, selling the signs for $6. A pack of eight markers will also be available for $10.

The park district asks students to submit photos of the completed signs in the yards around the area for posting on its Facebook page.
