Homewood Arts Council issues call for art to include in online exhibit

Area artists will have an opportunity to show their work in a virtual gallery sponsored by the Homewood Arts Council. The council has announced a call for art, with entries due Sept. 1.

The council operated a gallery at 2023 Ridge Road in Homewood and hosted shows in 2018 and 2019. The gallery closed in March due to the pandemic. Then earlier this summer, the organization had to move out of the space. The storefront will be used by Metra as a field office during the renovation of Homewood’s train station.

HAC co-founder Greg Loudon said under the circumstances moving to an online exhibition was a natural next step.

All art forms will be accepted. The show will go live Sept. 10 on the HAC website. Artists can submit one to three images. Only high-resolution images in JPG format will be accepted.

Each submission should include the artist’s name and short biography along with the title, medium, size and price of the artwork. Framing is unnecessary, but if the artwork is framed artists should include the cost of the frame in the listed price. Artists will receive 70 percent of all proceeds with 30 percent for the arts organization.

All work must be for sale. HAC might ask artists whose work is selected for the exhibition to provide an interview or working video.
