Southland Smiles to host Dentistry from the Heart free service on Saturday

On Saturday, March 9, area residents who have difficulty affording dental care will have an opportunity for a free visit to the dentist.

Southland Smiles, 19815 Governors Highway in Flossmoor, in partnership with non-profit organization Dentistry from the Heart, will offer teeth cleanings, fillings and other treatments.

This will be the seventh time Dr. Richard Mantoan and his staff have offered the program.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and Mantoan and his volunteers will see patients from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Patients will receive treatment on a first-come first-served basis.

The program is intended to help people who are homeless, unemployed or working but still in poverty.

Over the years, Southland Smiles has helped hundreds of people who need dental work, including fillings, extractions and cleanings.

Mantoan encourages patients to arrive early, dress appropriately for the weather and bring chairs, blankets, water and snacks in case they have to wait for some time to be seen.
Dentistry From The Heart is a national non-profit organization with a mission of making people smile. It was founded in 2001 and seeks to help the growing number of under-insured Americans.
