Author will discuss improv for spirituality at two programs

Presbyterian minister and author MaryAnn McKibben Dana will present her spiritual insights on dealing with the unexpected when she expands on the principles outlined in her book “God, Improv, and the Art of Living.”

She will be a guest from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at Bookie’s Bookstore, 2015 Ridge Road in Homewood. She also will be a speaker at the Sunday, March 3, worship service at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchinson in Flossmoor.

McKibben Dana uses scripture, psychology, theology and pop culture to present spiritual wisdom through seven improvisational principles that she learned as a student with Second City Improv.

“We are all improvisers whether we realize it or not. We improvise in order to get through the day. We improvise when life surprises us,” said McKibben Dana. “We do it without even thinking about it. This book will help you do it better.”
